Being in the most amazing location in Southern California, it’s no wonder Malibu has some of the best restaurants in California. While there may be better food elsewhere, you’re not going to get the great view with great food, like you’ll get in Malibu. From the high end restaurants, to the very casual little cafes, you’ll find something delicious no matter what you’re doing in Malibu.
My family always stop to eat somewhere on PCH in Malibu, after a day at the beach. We’ll also go to the fancy places for special occasions, like an anniversary or birthday. I definitely have my favorites, so let me share some of them with you!
Where elegance meets outdoors. Beautiful location off of Pacific Coast Highway. With each table having a extraordinary view of the Pacific Ocean. The outdoor terrace has a real european feel. The food is devine and not as expensive as you might think.
This restaurant gets real busy for obvious reasons. So, make sure you have plenty of time on your hands. Trust me, you will not want to leave, anyway. There’s a valet charge of $6.00 added to your bill and believe me, that’s considered cheap. There’s no safe parking on PCH, so keep in mind. 27400 Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu 90265
The original Nobu opened in1999 and was located in a shopping center. Food was great, location was, well, boring. However, the restaurant relocated a few years ago, to the most stunning beachfront property, and boy did Nobu up it’s game!
The view of the Pacific Ocean can be seen from practically everywhere in the restaurant. The outdoor seating is expectional. There’s a lovely outdoor lounge area, as well.
It’s hard to get a reservation here, so try to make the reservation way in advance. There is a sushi bar that’s first come, first serve. The food is always amazing. Get dressed up and enjoy a magical evening here. 22706 Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu 90265
Mastro’s Ocean Club
Located in the old Charthouse that was in Malibu for a long time. It’s a great location, so why not Mastro’s? Mastro’s is well known for their big, delicious steaks. This high end steakhouse has amazing seafood too.
There’s also live music on select nights. Beautiful ocean views and close to Santa Monica, so it’s not as far of a drive, if you’re staying in the city. 18412 Pacific Coast HIghway, Malibu 90265
This restaurant has always been one of my favorites in Malibu. Moonshadows is an original that has been around for more than 40 years. It’s a Malibu staple.
We often come here for anniversaries and birthdays. It’s an elegant, yet comfortable restaurant with beautiful ocean views. There’s indoor and outdoor dining. The food is consistently good. You can dress up or dress casual nice here. There’s a great brunch here too. 20356 Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu 90265
Dukes is a Hawaiian chain restaurant that is dedicated to Duke Kahanamoku, father of suring and Hawaii’s ambassador of Aloha. There are Dukes restaurants in Hawaii and California, all in fantastic locations, and Malibu is no different. Great Hawaiian inspired dishes and cocktails.
Elegant, yet casual dining. Ocean view is mandatory at this island style restaurant! Great for the whole family. Prices are reasonable for the yummy food you’re getting! 21150 Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu 90265
The Sunset Restaurant
Upscale, yet California casual. It’s just across the street from Westward Beach, which happens to be one of my favorite spots in Malibu. It’s more of a local’s hangout. There’s a lot of small weddings held across the street at the beach and reception held back at the restaurant.
However, tourists are more than welcome. The location is perfect, the food is lovely, the ambience is relaxing. This is the epitome of Malibu! 6800 Westward Road, Malibu 90265
Paradise Cove Beach Cafe
This cafe is right on the beach. American fare and tropical drinks are served, as well as great breakfasts. There’s a large indoor seating area and there’s an outdoor seating area that’s right on the sand. The cafe is located in a small beach cove with a small pier, just a few minutes away.
We come here all of the time. We love coming here during the winter, when its real quiet. The seafood is very good and prices are reasonable. Be sure to get your parking validate, or will be expensive. This restaurant is a MUST do. 28128 Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu 90265
This casual seafood shack is a Malibu staple. On a nice summer afternoon, you’ll always find a line. It’s worth the wait. Known to have great clam chowder, fish and chips and fish tacos. Their seafood is all fresh and , they have great ice cream sandwiches, too! 2653 Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu 90265
This famously known seafood joint has been in several movies, including Fast and The Furious and Point Break. Located in a great spot up the Pacific Coast Highway, way passed Zuma Beach, near the Ventura County line. You’ll experience beautiful ocean views and great, inexpensive seafood. Both cooked and raw, all fresh.
This one of my family’s favorite, beach dining spots We sometimes drive specifically to this great casual restaurant. We especially love coming here during the winter, when its quiet and there’s mostly only locals here. We always bring family from the east coast here. They love it, too. 42505 Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu 90265
Located at the end of the Malibu pier. Open for breakfast and lunch, Wednesday through Friday and offering a great weekend brunch. Amazing organic food and a nice little wine bar. Obviously, magnificent ocean views, being that you’re on top of the water, on the pier! 23000 Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu 90265
Has been opened since 1947 and is here to stay. Fresh seafood, lovely ocean views, very casual setting. Great spot for after a day at the beach. Fish tacos and a cold beer is a popular meal for the local surfers. 18661 Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu 90265
